We continued our coastal drive down the Ards Peninsula south east of Belfast. The small town of Grey Abbey had some really interesting ruins to explore. This Anglo-Norman Cistercian Abbey consisted of a church and its living quarters. It was founded in 1193 by Affreca wife of John de Courcy, the Anglo-Norman invader of East Ulster.
